Cyclospora Outbreak Reaches 5,002 Cases Across 5 States

The CDC has confirmed 5,002 cases of Cyclospora cayetanensis infection linked to shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Fresh Foods (Taylor Farms de Mexico) in Guanajuato, Mexico. 94 hospitalizations have been reported. Michigan remains the epicenter with 5,002 cases. Indiana (412), Ohio (387), Kentucky (198), and West Virginia (89) are also affected. No deaths have been reported.

Taylor Fresh Foods Issues Voluntary Recall of All Shredded Iceberg Lettuce

Taylor Fresh Foods has voluntarily recalled all shredded iceberg lettuce products with Best By dates July 18 through August 3, 2026. The recall affects 28 states. Consumers should not eat any recalled product and should discard it immediately. Retailers have been instructed to remove product from shelves.

Taco Bell Confirmed as Primary Restaurant Source in 5-State Cluster

The CDC has confirmed that Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia are the primary restaurant source of the 5-state Cyclospora cluster. 90% of interviewed patients reported eating iceberg lettuce at Taco Bell. Taco Bell has removed Taylor Farms lettuce from all affected locations as of July 17. Consumers should confirm with staff that new lettuce supplier is in use before ordering anything with iceberg lettuce.

Walmart Marketside Iceberg Salad and Shredded Lettuce Recalled

Walmart has recalled Marketside Iceberg Salad (12oz and 24oz) and Marketside Shredded Lettuce (8oz and 16oz) with Best By dates July 18 through August 3, 2026. The recall affects 15 states. Consumers should discard the product immediately and return it to Walmart for a full refund. Do not consume any Marketside iceberg lettuce products.
